Before buying a travel eSIM, check the phone you will actually use. Entering *#06# is a quick first step: if an EID appears, the device has eSIM hardware. You still need to check whether it can use another provider’s eSIM.
Start with the phone keypad
Open the Phone app and enter *#06# on its keypad. Many phones display device information automatically. Look specifically for EID, not just IMEI or IMEI2. An IMEI alone does not confirm eSIM support. [1]
What an EID tells you
The EID identifies the device’s eSIM chip. Its presence confirms that hardware, not an active data plan or permission to use every provider. You do not need to send us the number for this self-check. [2]
If the code does not show an EID
Check the device settings as well. On iPhone, look under Settings, General, About. On supported Samsung Galaxy phones, check About phone and Status information; menu names may vary. On Pixel, look under About phone and SIM status. [3–5]
If you cannot find an EID or an option to add an eSIM, check your exact model number against the manufacturer’s instructions. The code screen alone is not a definitive negative test. For a tablet without a phone keypad, start in Settings.
Check carrier locks and regional variants
A phone with eSIM hardware can still be locked to a carrier. On iPhone, check Carrier Lock under Settings, General, About. If it is locked, contact your existing carrier about unlocking it. [6]
The exact regional model also matters. Devices with similar names can have different eSIM capabilities. This depends on the variant sold for a particular market, not simply on the country where a brand comes from. [7]
Before buying blueSIM
Check the EID, model variant and carrier lock, then open blueSIM in Telegram. Review the countries, validity and conditions of your chosen package. blueSIM provides mobile internet without a phone number or ordinary SMS.
If you are unsure, tell our Support team the exact model number, country of purchase and error message. Do not publish screenshots exposing your EID or IMEI. A successful device check does not replace checking your package and its network coverage.
